Physics, Sound Waves & OscillationsUltrasonic SystemCatalogue No: 1120110 Ultrasonic transmitter and receiver operating in 40 KHz frequency region enclosed in plastic enclosures (142 x 80 x 43) mm approx. 2 KHz modulating frequency is transmitted by ultrasonic transmitter and detected by receiver, which amplifies the signal and drives a internal loudspeaker. Output signal can also be visualized on a CRO for more quantitative measurements through 4mm sockets fitted on the receiver.
Transmitter is supplied with two ultrasonic transducer, both can be switched ON simultaneously when required to produce two coherent sources. Interference pattern can be dramatically demonstrated and simplifying the Young’s Slits experiment by using waves rather than light on moving the receiver along a line parallel to the sources. The system uses the sound waves above the hearing threshold and demonstrating the reflection properties linked with ‘SONAR’ etc.

Physics, Sound Waves & OscillationsWave Motion DemonstratorCatalogue No: 1120108 An outstanding version of the classic wave machine. This device consists of a series of pendulums independently suspended on a common base and coupled together by long-light springs. Two modules are included, each with 43 pendulums, a damping unit with a paddle and water bath and a motor-powered eccentric driver for controlled excitation of waves. Coupling hardware is supplied so that the demonstrator can be used with either a single module or with both modules coupled to make a longer machine. The ends of the pendulums are colored bright yellow, while the rest of the machine is black, so the wave patterns are prominent and clearly visible. Basic phenomena in transverse wave propagation can be clearly shown. Using the damping module, running waves can be enerated to illustrate the concepts of wavelength and frequency. Standing wave patterns, wave reflection and superposition can be shown when the damping module is removed. A mechanical brake is also included so that all of the pendulums can be stopped instantaneously, freezing the
wave pattern in place for more detailed discussion. Waves can also be excited by hand.
